True Friendship

Ok, so I'm still doing this detox thing (only 4 1/2 days to go!) which means I am still unable to eat like normal. But does that slow me down? No way!

Today Bill and I are headed out to Shawn's to bring him some sustenance during his time of self reflection. I'm bringing along blue cheese risotto, a 3 cheese focaccia, and deviled eggs. I have pictures posted below with the risotto and focaccia. The Deviled eggs weren't very photogenic..

But it is a little bit of hell to make all this stuff and not eat it!

Blue cheese risotto

Not sure how good this looks, but it is tasty!

Mmmmmm. Bacon

Crisping it up for the blue cheese risotto.

Focaccia

And here it is! All golden brown and ready to eat.

Focaccia

Ok. Goodie on board! Ricotta cheese, parmesan, mozarella, and salami.
Off to the oven it goes!

Focaccia

Here it is almost ready for the goodie to go on top. It has now risen
twice, which takes 2 1/2 hours.

Getting in shape sucks!

So I create a blog and then never post anything. What's up with that?!? Mostly it is because I'm dieting/detoxing. That won't end until 4/23, so being around food and beverages I can't consume is no fun.

However, I will be at the Scottsdale Culinary Fest this weekend and will try and grab some pictures to post. I will also be making my friend, Shawn, some treats to take to him on Sunday. Food therapy to over cover come his enforced convalescence.

And then the following weekend I should be back in full eatting mode, but I'll look so much better!

Craft Restaurant

Sorry about the light in the picture, but I was sitting at the bar and didn't have a lot of space. This is a picture of the braised short ribs and garlic risotto from Craft. The list of James Beard nominees had just come and and Tom Colecio was on the list for Outstanding Chef. Since I'm a Top Chef fan I decided I needed to give his restaurant a try. It was very good, although I have to say the risotto was a little under done for me. I prefer it to be cooked all the way through and not have that little kernel of toughness in the center. Still the taste was wonderful. I would give them another try anytime.

Black label burger

This is the Black Label Burger from the Minetta Tavern in NYC. It was Anthony Bourdain a few weeks ago listed as the best hamburger ever. Really, I have to agree. It was so good and juicy, I had it eaten before I knew it. As you can see I couldn't wait to try it before taking a picture.

Lobster roll yum

This is a picture I took a couple of weeks ago at the Pearl Oyster Bar in NYC. The picture shows the best lobster roll ever created. Huge chunks of lobster, but it is the buttered roll they use that makes it extra good. The fries were tasty too!

My first post

Hi there,

This is my first post. I just created the account and feel like I should post something here.

My plan for this blog is to post pictures of restaurants, food, drinks and various other things that strike my fancy.

I have discovered that I love sharing pictures of what I have ordered at a restaurant, what I have made that is awesome, and other pictures that I want to keep a record of.

Bye for now,

Kim
